    Outstanding Excercise Bicycle!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I did extensive research before I bought this bike. I’ve ridden it for about ten hours since assembly and am simply delighted with it. I am a excellent mechanic and assembled it by myself in about three hours. The assembly manual has small text, mostly illustrations; but they marginally suffice, more text would be very helpful.

The console electronic cable going the top of the front wheel hardware has connectors at both ends — they must be connected to the proper connectors, they are not the same configuration and are not interchangeable. So beware, the bike parts I received had this cable reversed so I was unable to connect the connectors until I removed the cable and reversed its “to — from” direction.

The text regarding the programming of a user is unsatisfactory, confusing, does not effective communicate to a reader.

When registering the bike, you must have its serial number, the serial number is located on the bottom of the front stabilizer, record it before you assemble the bike.

In sum, if you are looking for an outstanding recumbent exercise bike at a most reasonable price, I urge you to buy this bike.

Another review of a FREE SHIPPING… it was a excellent one…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
    Well, this is my tale.

The delivery for my bike took 2 weeks (I bought it form Amazon and selected a free shipping).

    Now, the process of delivery:

    1) I received a post card in my mail box from “CEVA” (the delivery company).

The card said that my shipment had arrived from Amazon and they wanted me to call them back to schedule a delivery appointment.

They provided their phone and my tracking #.

    2) I called them back the same day (around 7:15 PM !). The reception person was very nice to me: I gave her my cell number and requested that the best time would be a next day.

NOTE: She was very nice and she said that they would call me tomorrow ONE HOUR before arriving to my house.

    3) The next day I’ve got the phone call from a delivery guy to confirm my delivery in one hour.

    4) I questioned my boss a permission to leave 30 min later and by the time I’ve got home (approximately in 20 min), the delivery guy was already there

    peacefully waiting for me.

    5) The box was HUGE and IN PERFECT CONDITION !!! So, all events happened so smoothly: no drama, no heart pain – just the way things should be done in the USA (21 century).

I’ll update in a month how the bike goes. But prior of buying it from Amazon, I went to a local sport store and tried the floor model: that was UNBELIEVABLE BIKE: I just felt in like with it :) ))

The price was $599. So, I realized that paying $449 was very appealing…

I hope my comment will help someone to make a right choice…

A review of the *free* shipping
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I’ve been an amazon customer for nearly 12 years, and whenever I buy something, I always check amazon first.

No surprise, Amazon had the recumbent bike I was looking for, and nearly $100 cheaper than the local huge box sports store where I tested it out.

Shipping is the factor here in the competitive price. Regular shipping was around $70 for this bike through amazon, and if I was paying that, then probably simpler to just pick up the bike locally. But free shipping, well then it’s a no-brainer, right? I can wait a couple of weeks for the bike…

So I ordered the bike through amazon on 10/25. Nearly a month has passed. According to tracking, the bike arrived in Chicago (local hub) on 11/6. No call from the shipper, no way to contact them (CEVA?). Amazon wants me to wait until tomorrow to either cancel or have them ship another one. Ahh, just in time for the Christmas shipping rush. What are the odds I’ll get it this time? And apparently I just gave a $400 small term loan to amazon if all I do is get a refund.

Bottom line, in this case, amazon free shipping appears to be free because the package never arrives. Maybe not such a excellent deal. I reckon I’m going back to the huge box.

    Really excellent, silent machine

It is simple to assemble and very silent, making it simple to watch TV or hear what’s going on.

    Schwinn 240 is FANTASTIC!
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I just bought the Schwinn 240. It is the first exercise bike I have ever owned but have used others my friends had. This machine is light years ahead of what I’ve used before.

After having tried other brands I settled on this one due to how well it is constructed, ease of use etc.

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the instructions as to how to use it to get the most out of it SUCK! I wrote the company concerning this. It was *kind of* simple to initially set it up. (Don’t set it up for Guest if you are the primary user or it won’t save your workouts.) It is alot of guess work for me to go from going to my name then getting to the actual workout screen.

I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually but, why should I have to? That should be Schwinn’s responsibility to have already figured it out for me to make my life a small more simpler!

Also, all the parts to place it together come on two pieces of card board with plastic over them to keep them in place. There are numbers etc. under each nut and bolt but none of these letters and numbers match up with the book to place the machine together. You have to figure that out for yourself by looking at the pictures in the book. Another Schwinn blunder. They could very easily have place a number under each nut and place that **same** number in the book.

Other than these blunders, I really like the machine and am getting lots of use from it! I hope to have it many years and extend my quality of life for many years to come.

Schwinn, get a clue. We don’t want to learn this machine by trial and error. Place together a better manual on how to use this machine. Don’t make me have to place one together for you!

    Needed a low-impact cardio machine…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After months of trying to choose if we should buy an exercise bike, we finally bit the bullet. We went right down to Dick’s sporting goods and even though they didn’t have one on show, they did have one int he back. We bought the Schwinn 240 due to it being one of the newest models. Some of the things we really liked better were minor, but made the difference to us. The number of different programs were higher than the other models. Being able to remember a user’s information was also a huge positive from other models where every time a different user uses the equipment you have to reset all your information. The cup holder not being under the seat but on the console made more sense and having the basket to store magazines and things just seemed neater. It took about 1.5 hours to assemble. Hint: A couple of the parts were already on the bike which was confusing when comparing to the parts list. The model is nice looking, smaller than our elliptical and simple to go around with the wheels. I haven’t had it long enough yet to know how it will hold up, but it’s very sturdy, very silent and seems like it will last for a long time.

Initial Impression: Solid Machine, Abysmal Documentation, Poor Computer Programming
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Machine is smooth, silent and comfortable. Appears to be well built overall.

Documentation is poor. Parts list includes 17 bolts and washers which are not included on the placard, or elsewhere, but there was enough hardware to complete the job.

Programming a user is frustrating, grossly inefficient, and abysmally clarified. Once you figure it out, it’s perfectly usable.

Blue on blue show is sometimes hard to read, but I am colorblind so this may not effect everyone.

    The telemetry unit works fine.

I broke off a cover on the crank with my foot on the second use. Just a decorative thing, but another minor annoyance, e.g. I don’t reckon it should be built to break like that.

All-in-all a solid effort and I would recommend the machine, just be prepared for a few frustrations.

    Just what I hoped for
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I did alot of research before I chose to get this machine. It is everything I hoped for and needed. I had a friend place it together and it was up and running in 1.5 hours. I like it, use it two times a day and find it ‘simple’ on my knees and back. Very, very pleased with this buy.

    Fantastic Recumbent Bike For All!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this bike over a month ago. It has been fantastic. I am a 6ft 4in 220 lb man and this machine accommodates me perfectly. It has unbelievable resistance levels. I once was a 600lb squatter and this machine can exhaust my legs. My wife is 5ft 4in and it will adjust to accommodate her just fine as well. Not sure about the longevity as I have not owned it long enough. I like the multi color back light show. Assembly was a snap and I accomplished unloading and assembly with no help. Amazon had a excellent price with no tax and free shipping. I would recommend to anyone wanting a quality machine at a excellent price. I hope the machine holds up for years to come. So far so excellent. Fantastic preprogrammed workouts that will push the most experienced riders and lifters alike. Plus who doesn’t like working out in a nice reclined position.

Product is brilliant, shipping company is NOT—
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
During these hard economic times, I wanted to save nearly $45 in taxes and bought this bike through Amazon. Unbeknownst to me at the time of placing the order, another shipper, “Pilot”, was used to ship the bike to me instead of the usual UPS, FEDEX, or USPS. This was not a problem until they only gave me the option of one 4 hour window for the bike to be delivered because it was a Friday—–I didn’t request a Friday delivery and they mistakenly offered several other time slots the first time they called, but then retracted them because it would be on a Friday afternoon in California (they ship from Arizona). They were VERY inflexible so I will be buying this bike locally and Amazon loses the sale (after my money is refunded). If you’re able to work with the shipper’s schedule, then Amazon has a fantastic price & the shipping was free.

UPDATE: Was charged $70 for the return of the bike so make sure you’re available—to reckon this all started to “save” money :(
